Introducing Ganga Nakarmi

Ganga Nakarmi will be working with the Guardians in July and August under our Ohio River Valley Participatory Fund grant. She will be working on our asset map of existing community resources people, places, past and current water and ecology projects, plans, and research in the watershed. She will also be reaching out to set up discussions with local

government, county government, local businesses, nonprofits, to identify community assets and the interest to invest time or money in those assets and also outreach and education tables or booths across the watershed, and recruiting presenters and participants for Watershed Day, October 10.

Ganga was most recently the Brownfields Inventory Project Manager at West Virginia Water Research Institute. She has served in protected area management, human dimensions and conservation, and sustainable development through research, education, and outreach programs affiliated with national and international organizations. Ms. Nakarmi grew up in Kathmandu, Nepal and moved to Morgantown to continue her studies at WVU. She enjoys hiking and biking in the mountains of WV and sharing her ethnic dishes with friends. She has a PhD in Human and Community Development from WVU and Master’s Degrees in Protected Area Management from Alpen-Adria University, Klagenfurt, Austria and in Botany (Ecology) from Tribhuvan University, Nepal. She has a certificate in Geographic Information System and Spatial Analysis from WVU.
